Dunes

Named for the green that sits nestled amongst the dunes, Dunes is a par 4 that turns players back away from Redcar and provides one of the most distinctive settings on the course. After a stretch of demanding and tightly framed driving holes, the tee shot here feels comparatively open. There are still bunkers to avoid on the left-hand side of the fairway, but players can be more confident in opening their shoulders and committing to the drive. The real challenge begins with the approach. The green is long and narrow, making it a difficult target to find and even harder to hold. A single bunker guards the front left, while dunes and wispy rough surround the putting surface on all sides, punishing any shot that lacks precision. A hole of contrasts: generous from the tee, exacting into the green, and one that perfectly captures the character of links golf.
