Steeple

Steeple is a short par 4 that asks a difficult question from the tee. Three bunkers line the left-hand side of the fairway, naturally encouraging players to favour the right. However, there is danger there too. Anything drifting too far right towards or over the ridge of dunes is likely to be lost, making accuracy far more important than distance. Those who find the fairway are rewarded with a short approach, but the hole is far from over. The green is one of the smallest on the course and offers a deceptively difficult target. Like several of the course's most demanding greens, it is shaped like an upturned saucer, shedding anything that isn't struck with precision. A classic risk-and-reward par 4 that can yield a birdie, but just as easily punish any lapse in accuracy.
